Acrotomophilia is also known as Amputee Fetishism and is charachterized by an erotic interest in individuals with an ampuated limb. An individual suffering from Acrotomophilia is sexually attracted to persons with an amputation nd may or may not be unattracted to indivduals without amputations. Some of these individuals also manage by fantacizing that their partner has an amputation in order to get excited during sex. In the most extreme forms of this diosorder, the person may not get aroused unless with someone who has an amputation.
Within the study of sexology, the attraction to amputees is called Acrotomophilia which has been derived from the Greek word akron meaning ‘extremity’ and tomein meaning ‘to cut’ in English.

As per various studies in which acrotomophiles were primary subjects, it was discovered that leg amputations are preferred over arm amputations and single limb amputations are preferred over double limb amputations.
