Migraine is a common neurological disorder the symptoms of which include headache of moderate to severe intensity, visual distortions, increased sensitivity to sound, light and smell, irritability, fatigue, vertigo, dizziness and nausea. During the headache phase of the migraine the pain is felt in the head, forehead, around the eyes, temples and cheekbones. It tends to get worse if the person moves or leans forward. This type of migraine is generally observed in patients falling in the age group of 18 to 65 years.

This type of migraine is triggered by various factors:
Allergy to certain foods, substances and synthetics can lead to the development of this type of migraine.
Changes in weather conditions, atmospheric pressure and increase in humidity can trigger a sinus migraine.
Another contributing factor is lack of sleep.
Barometric pressure changes can also develop this type of migraine. Thus, it is essential for individuals to take precautions when traveling to high altitudes or while traveling by air.
Symptoms of Sinus migraine:
Sinus migraine is accompanied by pain in the face, behind the eyes, forehead, temples and head.
Vomiting and nausea may also occur along with dizziness.
Other symptoms include fever, dripping nose and nasal congestion.

Treatment for Sinus migraine:
Medications: These include Triptan and ergotamines. Antibiotics are also administered to treat this condition. In case of severe infection, the doctor may also recommend surgical drainage.
Remove the allergen : This approach focuses on figuring out and eliminating the root cause of the allergy that has triggered the sinus infection.
Relaxation: Deep breathing exercises and relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation also help treat this disorder.
Herbs: Various herbs such as feverfew, gingko and gold seal help eliminate pain.
Steam: Taking nasal inhalation also helps relieve some of the sinus symptoms .
