Uses of Nardil:
Nardil belongs to the category of mono amine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and is widely prescribed for treating major depression with or without melancholia. It helps alleviate feelings of sadness, loss of appetite, disorganized thought pattern and hopelessness by rectifying the chemical imbalances of neurotransmitters in the brain. Nardil is also recommended for the treatment of phobic disorders, bulimia, panic attacks and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dosage:
It is essential for you to take Nardil as prescribed by your physician in order to avoid any side effects. You must also not stop taking the medication abruptly without the consent of your doctor as it may worsen some of the symptoms of the disorder you are being treated for. The drug can be ingested with or without food.
Warning and Precautions:
Nardil should not be taken by patients who are hypersensitive to it or to any other drugs belonging to the class of mono amine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
This medicine should not be given to patients who have been diagnosed with kidney or liver disorders, brain tumor, cardiovascular disease, enlarged prostrate and Parkinson’s disease.
Do not give this medicine in case the patient if unconscious.
All central nervous depressants such as narcotics, analgesics, antihistamines and anticoagulants should be avoided with Nardil.
Tell your doctor in case you are pregnant or lactating before taking this medicine.
Caution and regular drug monitoring is required when prescribing this medicine to the elderly.
Do not consume alcohol when taking Nardil.
Avoid driving or operating any hazardous machinery after taking the medicine.
Side effects of Nardil:
Some of the most common side effects of the medication include dry mouth, vertigo, nausea, fatigue, edema, anxiety, restlessness, sleep pattern disturbances, changes in taste, constipation, changes in weight, diarrhea, vomiting, insomnia, excitability and changes in appetite.
Overdose:
In case of an overdose of the medication, you must report to your doctor at the earliest or contact your local poison control center.
